Cincow deh Mayow...

BTW...

"Cinco de Mayo" is not Mexico's most important party/ holiday!

It's not even a free day from work (it is from school).

This was when Mexico won a battle in Puebla, but it is not all that big of a deal.

Important holidays would be September 15th-16th (start of the War of Independence), or November 20th (start of the Revolution War).

Who started the rumor that la Batalla de Puebla was the most important Mexican party, I don't know.

But it is not.

That's all I wanted to say.

César.

According to a paper published by the UCLA Center for the Study of Latino Health and Culture, about the origin of the observance of Cinco de Mayo in the United States, the modern American focus on that day first started in California in the 1860s in response to the resistance to French rule in Mexico.[6] The paper notes that "The holiday, which has been celebrated in California continuously since 1863, is virtually ignored in Mexico."[6]

I always considered it just a party day. That's what I was last told in my spanish class anyway. it was just a celebration, and is a fun day to do. Sorta like St. Patrick's Day can be taken in for anyone.

That's better.

But not an important one in Mexico, always remember that. We may not even remember about it at times (n_n).

Yeah, I know it is not everyone. But the general "merchandising", or whatever it would be called. It feels strange that day was chosen...

Any excuse to drink tequila or hate on the French, I guess.
